There are few regions in the world that can claim as rich a cultural and historic past as Indochina; the countries of Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia are home to some of the oldest temples in existence, the site of great humanitarian tragedy, and also spectacularly beautiful. This tour allows you to visit all of them over a period of 14 days, taking in the most special and unique sights that each one has to offer.
Starting in Laos, journey along the Mekong River to the Pak Ou Caves, illuminated by thousands of golden Buddha statues and, staying in the cultural heart of the country, Luang Prabang, you will get to see three of the nation's finest temples before heading onwards to Laos' capital, Vientiane. Far from the bustling metropolises that have come of other Asian capitals, Vientiane is as charming today as it ever has been.
Traveling down the Perfume River marks the perfect end to your stay in Laos before crossing over to Hoi An in Vietnam. From here, see My Son, the former capital of the Champa Kingdom set in a lush green valley containing buildings which date back 800 years and explore the town's old trading port.
Next, take in Ho Chi Minh City, the former Saigon, where past meets modernity in this bustling neo-colonial city, before heading back out on the Mekong Delta to explore the surrounding floating markets and islands.
Finally reaching Cambodia, your first stop will be Phnom Penh followed by the breathtaking splendor of the Angkor Complex, home to the ancient Khmer temples. From the preserved majesty of Angkor Wat to Ta Phrom's rustic charm, the centuries-old religious monuments attract an abundance of tourists to the region every year thanks to their awe-inspiring beauty.
Before departing Cambodia, travel to the great lake of Tonle Sap and visit the region's finest artisans at work. The perfect place to stock up on souvenirs before your journey home.
Built in 1932, Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor has been restored with renewed elegance and modern facilities, complimenting the mystery and grandeur of Angkor as never before.
Find yourself drawn in by the allure of one of Asia's most mysterious countries on this journey into Myanmar. You'll explore the marvels of Myanmar's regal history and local culture as you're transported to glittering pagodas, enigmatic ruins, and welcoming craft workshops on your Burma Tour from Yangon to Mandalay, Bagan, and Inle Lake.
